In the last hours of deadline day, Antwerp is busy completing the transfer of Eliot Matazo (21). The Belgian promising international, who is currently at the Bosuil, should be the successor to Arthur Vermeeren.

After the departure of Arthur Vermeeren, Antwerp wants fresh blood in the ashes of the field. Praet was an option, Marin too, but in the end it seems to be Matazo who will strengthen the Great Old. There has not yet been a final agreement on a loan (perhaps without a purchase option), but the discussions are moving in the right direction.
Matazo is a youth product of Anderlecht who has been with AS Monaco since 2018. The Belgian youth international has already had regular opportunities to play there (77 matches played), but he is not a regular starter this season, partly due to injuries. At AS Monaco, where he has played since 2018, the midfielder has not been involved since October due to the fierce competition and so a solution was needed. Because he was still recovering from a muscle injury, he had to wait until something could be found, but last week he resumed training, so they took their chance at Antwerp. Both Monaco and the player are convinced of this move – a loan until the end of this season – and they now have to wait until the deal is fully completed.
