AA Gent has signed 21-year-old central defender Hugo Gambor. He comes over from the French second division club USL Dunkerque and signed a contract until 2027, the Buffaloes confirmed on Thursday.
Gambor, who has French and Central African nationality, is called “a young player with a lot of potential” by the East Flemish people. With Dunkirk he was promoted to Ligue 2, where he has been in the starting line-up except for a handful of games this season. “Hugo stood out because of his good footballing ability, which meant he was regularly played in midfield,” Gent explains.
The new signing will be given jersey number 12 in the Ghelamco Arena. “It is evident that I am very happy with this transfer. When I heard that KAA Gent’s interest became concrete, I didn’t hesitate for a second. The stadium is ‘magnifique’. I can’t wait to play there for the first time,” Gambor said in an initial response.
