Yorbe Vertessen (23) had been waiting in Berlin for four days to complete his transfer from PSV to Union Berlin, but the Eindhoven team is still letting the attacker go.

“The Bundesliga is special and so is Union,” says a happy Vertessen in an initial response. “Every player in the Eredivisie knows that. Hopefully I can help the team bounce back quickly after the past difficult months (Union is only fifteenth out of eighteen clubs, ed.). When I played here with Union last year, the atmosphere was unique.”
Union is also pleased with the transfer. “Vertessen received a great education at PSV,” says Oliver Ruhnert, sporting director of the Berlin team. “Moreover, he is someone who already has a lot of experience at a young age, which should help us in the short term. We are happy that he chose us over several other clubs.”
Injury Noa Lang
The transfer of Vertessen from PSV to Union Berlin ultimately became a controversial transition, because the Eindhoven team reserved the right to bring him back after Noa Lang’s injury. Our compatriot, who was loaned to the Belgian Union last season, has now signed a contract in Germany until mid-2028.
After Lang’s serious injury, PSV kept Vertessen ‘on a string’, Camp Vertessen said. “It is very unfortunate for Noa and for PSV – absolutely – but Yorbe has been cleared to travel. Giving him the bill for this is not part of the PSV club. Yorbe has had almost fifteen years of loyal service, right? Always remained available in recent weeks and everything went exactly as agreed,” said (football) lawyer Wouter Janssens. “We are in Berlin and will stay there,” he added.
Union is having a disappointing season after finishing fourth last season. Thanks to last year’s performance, the Berlin club played in the Champions League this season. It came last in a group with Real Madrid, Napoli and SC Braga.
Union Berlin recently saw a wing attacker leave in Sheraldo Becker. The former player for Ajax, PEC Zwolle and ADO Den Haag, among others, moved to Real Sociedad.
