RSC Anderlecht wants to book its first win of 2024 against KV Mechelen. The people of Brussels will have to play better football. Will Brian Riemer make any changes?
Luis Vazquez has already come on as a good substitute a number of times, while Kasper Dolberg has already been dry for seven matches. However, the Argentinian will not start against KV Mechelen
Vazquez and Dolberg
“Vazquez is doing well. He has already come on a number of times. Luis still needs to learn something tactically. What he does well is the energy he provides when he comes on. He has already been able to turn around certain matches for us,” said Riemer .
He missed big opportunities against Union SG in the cup and in the league. “Against Union SG there were also two moments where he could have scored. He needs to be a little sharper in that regard. At the moment I am satisfied with Dolberg and Vazquez.”
With two strikers?
Could both possibly start together in the team? “A two-spire system is certainly something that is possible. Luis certainly deserves to start, because he also works very hard. He also knows that he was brought in for the future. As the number one striker, Dolberg takes a lot of pressure off Vazquez, which is also an advantage for him. But that doesn’t mean it won’t start. That may also be the case in the coming weeks or months.”
Riemer realizes that football needs to improve. “We have to be in good shape for the play-offs. Hopefully we will have almost a completely fit core. We must try to win as much as possible in the coming months. I might see the teams that are fittest in the play-offs taking home the prizes.”
