The Darts Regulation Authority (DRA) has suspended three darts players until further notice for possible involvement in match fixing. These are Andy Jenkins, Jack Main and also Prakash Jiwa, who has qualified for the World Cup that starts in December.

Jiwa and Jenkins have been suspended during the investigation into suspicious betting during the MODUS Super Series, a series of tournaments for players who do not have a tour card for the PDC tournaments. Both players have the right to appeal the suspension.
The video above shows a clip from Jiwa’s match against Owen Bates. In the first leg the Indian was able to finish at sixty, but a strange denouement followed with many misses. The leg and the victory ultimately went to Bates, while Jiwa scored 0 out of 15 on his doubles and clocked in at an average of less than 70.

It is still unclear what this matter means for the World Cup ticket that Jiwa obtained. The 53-year-old darts player from India already made his debut at the World Cup in Alexandra Palace last year (see video below). He then lost 3-1 to Madars Razma in the first round. This year he qualified again for the World Cup via the Indian Qualifier.
Jenkins is also a well-known name in the darts world. He has not been at the World Championships since 2014, but between 1995 and 2013 he participated in the world championships seventeen times with the BDO and later the PDC. In 2007 he even faced Raymond van Barneveld in the semi-finals, who defeated Rocky 6-0 and eventually won the World Cup.
Both Jiwa and Jenkins can appeal the suspension.

Hearing
Jack Main must answer for breaching gambling rules after a report was made by the International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA) on June 9, 2023 about Main’s match against Lisa Ashton, also during a MODUS Super Series event.
The 27-year-old Englishman has been provisionally suspended from all tournaments and will have to answer at a hearing on a date yet to be determined. According to the DRA, there are no indications that Ashton was also involved in a possible violation of the rules.
