A year ago, Laurens Sweeck had already won four times before the last weekend of November. This year the counter is still at zero.
Not that Laurens Sweeck is having a bad season. In the ten races he already rode this season, he also finished in the top ten each time. But he only finished second once and third twice. Last weekend he finished eighth in Merksplas and sixth in Troyes.
But Sweeck also had some bad luck. In Beringen he suffered a calf injury and had to pass for Waterloo, in Maasmechelen he competed for the win but had two more punctures at the end. So the world could have looked different.
Although there also seem to be some physical problems. “I have no longer been able to train sufficiently, but that is of course the case for everyone due to the busy calendar,” he says Cycling flash. At the beginning of December he will go on an internship with the team, which will be good for him.
Last weekend there was also some illness or a cold, but Sweeck does not feel ill. “But I feel like I can’t breathe properly. Maybe there’s something wrong with my diaphragm, it’s tense and that’s hindering me. Other than that I have no idea what’s going on.”
