Wout van Aert is thinking about riding the Giro next year. The question is how and in what way he will approach this.
It now seems almost certain that Wout van Aert will ride the Giro next year. But it is not yet clear what goals he is going there for. Is Van Aert chasing stages or is he actually going for a classification in the Italian Grand Tour.
Van Aert would have to make some adjustments to participate in the rankings. Losing weight to be able to climb better seems to be the first thing that comes to mind. Although that is not obvious after the Tour of Flanders and Paris-Roubaix.

Thijs Zonneveld finds it unlikely that Van Aert first focuses on the classics and only then thinks about the Giro. “Because Jumbo-Visma is not quick to say: we will see where the ship ends up,” he says In the Wheel.
“It also looks like Jumbo-Visma will have him do longer training blocks, as well as more altitude training. And then he will say goodbye to the most beautiful duel in the sport,” Zonneveld refers to Mathieu van der Poel.
