Thibau Nys started the season like a comet. The youngest Nys already has three victories to his name, whose popularity is also increasing noticeably. The first comparisons with men like Mathieu van der Poel and Wout van Aert are also already being made.
A bit premature, of course, given the great class of those men. Nevertheless, given Nys’s good start to the season, it will be interesting to see how he will do against these top players. We will have to wait a while for that, as both Van Aert and Van der Poel will only make their appearance in the field at the end of December.
We now know that the Dutchman will be seen for the first time on December 22. Van Aert’s program is not yet known, but it will undoubtedly be around the Christmas period that the Kempen native will appear.
PARTY ON NEW YEAR
This way we can already see what the first cross will be that Nys will compete against Van der Poel, and possibly Van Aert. The first certain date for that seems to be New Year’s Day. After all, Nys has made the X2O Bathrooms Trophy his biggest goal, and that classification will be held in Baal on January 1.
That date can also be spotted on Van der Poel’s programme. And given that it is the traditional New Year’s Cross, it can be assumed that Van Aert will also be present. Nys may also meet the two tenors earlier, but that will depend on the choices he makes himself.
