In Peru, Universitario was able to dethrone rival Alianza Lima in a direct match for the title. That was clearly difficult for the latter club, because immediately after the final whistle the lights went out in the stadium.

The rivalry between Universitario and Alianza Lima is one of the fiercest in South America. Together they account for more than 50 titles.

Alianza Lima has been the best over the past 2 years, but now Universitario could celebrate the title after a direct duel with their arch rival.

Well, celebrate. The bad losers from Lima did not think it better to turn off all the lights in the stadium immediately after the final whistle after the 0-2 loss, so that there could be no celebrations.

Or so they thought, because at Universitario they continued to celebrate undisturbed. They responded on social media with a quip: “We shone in the darkness.”
