RSC Anderlecht wants to bring a new goalkeeper to Brussels in January. The Belgian record champion is currently preparing an opening bid to sign Hakon Valdimarsson.
Hakon Valdimarsson is currently in the spotlight at IF Elfsborg. The 22-year-old goalkeeper still has a contract there until mid-2027. However, with a market value of more than one million euros, Valdimarsson is feasible for Anderlecht.
Although according to the Swedish media there is competition. Several clubs from the major leagues have the four-time Icelandic international on their radar. However, Jesper Fredberg is convinced that Anderlecht has the trump cards to convince Valdimarsson.
Valdimarsson should replace Maxime Dupé in January. The French goalkeeper moved to Brussels in the off-season – he was reportedly promised to become number one – but the arrival of Kasper Schmeichel created a new hierarchy among the purple and white goalkeepers.
New number one?
In other words: Valdimarsson can make the switch to Lotto Park in January. This way, the 22-year-old goalie can adapt and learn from Schmeichel. After all, there is a good chance that the 37-year-old Dane will hang up his gloves after the European Championships next summer.
