AC Milan is still alive in the Champions League. Last night they kept the points at home against Paris Saint-Germain in an atmospheric San Siro, as the stars who came to watch the match saw. From David Beckham to Thierry Henry (see below).
It was a must for AC Milan. With 2 out of 9 they were last in the group of death. Two weeks ago they lost hard in Paris with 3-0. But in a swirling San Siro there is always something more possible.
Despite some small chances and some dominance in the game, the Italians still fell behind. Marquinhos was completely forgotten in the box, allowing him to serve Skriniar without any difficulty. The Slovakian easily headed in his first goal in the Champions League.
Milan did not lose hope and after three minutes they were level again. Rafael Leao first found Donnarumma in his path, but he did score in the next chance. And how. It was an unprecedented bicycle kick.
PSG immediately threatened through Mbappé and he also hit the crossbar. Yet it was AC Milan that took the lead again. After a very bizarre phase: Leao and Hakimi hit each other in the box. Everyone expected a whistle from the ref for some relief, but that didn’t come. Hernandez continued to play and found Giroud with a measured cross. The Frenchman headed in fantastically. PSG did everything they could, but they were no longer able to score.
Thanks to AC Milan’s victory, Dortmund is the new leader in Group F. They had few problems with Newcastle at home. Niclas Füllkrug and Julian Brandt scored the goals. Six out of six for the Germans against Newcastle, the latter with 4 out of 12. Everything is still playable in the group of death.
There were a lot of beautiful people in the stands of San Siro:
