RSC Anderlecht is the current number two in the Jupiler Pro League. Brian Riemer’s troops are four points behind leader Union SG.

Philippe Albert currently sees three teams that are eligible for the title in the Jupiler Pro League. “Union, AA Gent and Anderlecht,” he tells Het Laatste Nieuws.

“Those are the three teams that have convinced me the most so far. Apart from the second half against Standard, I think Anderlecht looks very solid. There’s something there. The board did very good work in the summer. The often expensive boys who no longer had a future have left and been replaced by players with immediate added value.”

Players who can make a difference, but must also remain employable. The injuries to Vertonghen and Leoni are a problem and Albert is worried about what would happen to Anderlecht if Hazard were to fail. In recent years he has regularly had to deal with injuries.

Although there is also a factor that gives Anderlecht a big advantage in the title battle, compared to Union SG and KAA Gent. “In that respect it is an advantage that Anderlecht is not active in Europe. For the time being, Riemer does not have to rotate and that only benefits the quality of the game.”
