Besnik Hasi (51) becomes the new coach of KV Mechelen. The ex-coach of RSC Anderlecht will soon sign a contract Achter de Kazerne. He succeeds Steven Defour.
Besnik Hasi has been without a club since he was fired from Saudi Al-Ahli in March 2022. He previously also trained Al-Raed, Olympiacos, Legia Warsaw and of course RSC Anderlecht. He led the Purple & White to the title in the 2013-2014 season.
Hasi faces a difficult assignment at KV Mechelen, which is only fourteenth in the league after a disappointing start to the season. The cup elimination against amateur club Knokke last week led to the departure of Steven Defour. It’s up to Hasi to get Malinwa back on track. It is not yet clear what the Mechelen staff will look like under Hasi. If everything goes according to plan, he will sign his contract with KV Mechelen on Wednesday or Thursday.
