When things weren’t going too well for Anderlecht, there was a lot of focus on Killian Sardella’s mistakes. At one point the defender even seemed to be on his way to the exit. But there you have it: the right back has become incontournable.
Sardella was not in the starting line-up for two matches this season, but he filled the rest of the 90 minutes. It’s a shame when you know that Jesper Fredberg raised 3.5 million euros this summer to get Louis Patris to the Lotto Park. But Sardella is currently winning the competition with aplomb.
Patris was not even in the starting line-up in the last four competition matches. He always had to take a seat in the stands. Especially because there are a lot of guys at Anderlecht who can play multiple positions, while Patris is actually a pure wingback.

But also because Sardella is doing really well. Defensively he leaves out the mistakes and offensively he delivers a lot of beautiful crosses these days. He currently even has three assists. Against Cercle Brugge he was one of the better ones on the field in the background.
Brian Riemer trusts the 21-year-old right back, who can also play centrally. That will probably also be necessary now that Jan Vertonghen may miss a few matches. It would also mean a new opportunity for Patris.
