A goalkeeper can excel in a shooting gallery. He did it again against Liverpool. Red Devil Thomas Kaminski (31) is suddenly making a name for himself in the Premier League at the age of thirty-one.

Thomas Kaminski shook his head. Eleven games in the Premier League, 21 goals conceded and again no clean sheet. Luis Diaz, of all people, shattered the dreams of Luton and Kaminski in minute 95. Little consolation for the Colombian, whose father was kidnapped ten days ago. Diaz showed a shirt addressed to his father at his goal. “Libertad para papa”, was the message. “Freedom for Dad.”

Kaminski can still be beat. The ex-goalkeeper of Beerschot, Ghent, OHL, Kortrijk and Anderlecht played a great match. One that was in line with his season. Liverpool lacked efficiency, Kaminski did more than what he had to do.

It is not Kaminski’s fault that Luton remains at the bottom of the Premier League. According to the XGOT, a variant of expected goals (xG), he is the best goalkeeper in the English top flight this season. The one who has faced the most difficult attempts, the one who has made the best saves.

“But I prefer points,” Kaminski said before the match. “You want to measure yourself against the best in the world.”
