It is gradually becoming a major crisis at newly promoted Burnley. Vincent Kompany did excellently with The Clarets last year, winning the national title by force majeure, but this season things are gradually going from bad to worse. Burnley lost at home for the sixth time in a row and that causes dissatisfaction among the fans.
Hero status big enough?
Kompany’s hero status seems to be great enough to compensate for a poorer start in the Premier League. After all, it was no surprise that the PhD candidate would have a hard time, as there are plenty of examples of teams that have recently been promoted from The Championship.
However, many fans probably expected better performance, especially at home. The Clarets have now lost six home games in a row, and yesterday they lost quite hopelessly to Crystal Palace.
Wrong/naive choices?
For the time being, there are no immediate signals from the club board that Kompany is really under pressure, but will that last long? There is a lot of grumbling among Burnley supporters about the often ‘strange’ choices of our compatriot and the somewhat naive football. A selection of the responses to X:
