Club Brugge’s transfers have certainly not been a great success in recent years. Blauw-Zwart missed the ball more often than right, which also caused the level to drop. One of those failed transfers is considering a winter departure from the Belgian top club.

Club Brugge signed Shion Homma from Albirex Niigata for 500,000 euros in the summer of 2022. He first had to gain experience at Club NXT. That in itself was a strange transfer, since Homma was already 22 years old when he came to Bruges.

Homma doesn’t get any chances

He certainly performed well at Club NXT last year. The lively winger scored 4 goals and 4 assists in 23 matches. He also played twice for the first team, scoring once and providing 1 assist. He did quite well in the preparation, including a lot better than expensive acquisition Michael Skoras.

Yet he does not get any playing opportunities from Ronny Deila. Homma mainly plays for Club NXT and in eight matches he has scored 0 goals and 3 assists.

Departure beckons

According to The newspapaer the Japanese is thinking about leaving. At the end of August he was already considering leaving Bruges, because he wants to play at the highest level when he is 23.

Since the Japanese, who is still under contract until 2025, will not get any opportunities from Deila, it is already certain that he will probably leave the club in January. Homma will thus be a footnote in the history of Club Brugge.
