After Mercedes seemed to have taken a step forward in Mexico, Lewis Hamilton and George Russell were suddenly put down to earth again during the sprint race in Brazil. Despair and disappointment prevailed, Hamilton cannot wait until the season is over and he no longer has to race the Mercedes W14.

Lewis Hamilton started the sprint race from fifth place but had to settle for seventh place at the finish, not the result he and Mercedes had expected. It was another frustrating race for the seven-time world champion.

“Over the last few races we were very happy with the progress we had made, it was really positive to see,” said Hamilton. “Then you come to another track and you have the worst tire wear in ages.”

“It seems like you never know what to expect with this car. Just a few more races and I’ll be done, I’ll be happy! I’m counting down the days.”

“I don’t know if the car’s setup was wrong. We probably did something wrong with the setup, it is what it is.”
