The sprint race on the Interlagos circuit is a fact. The last sprint of the current season was just won by none other than Max Verstappen. Behind him, Lando Norris crossed the line in second, the top three was completed by Sergio Perez.
On a dry but warm track, almost all drivers started on the soft tire. Pole sitter Norris wanted to retain control, but that was not possible. Verstappen overtook him after just one corner and after that the Dutchman could no longer catch up. Norris was then caught by his Mercedes compatriot George Russell, but Norris soon regained second place.
Duels
While Norris still started chasing Verstappen, very exciting duels arose everywhere on the track. Lewis Hamilton in particular found himself in a large number of duels. Sergio Perez also had to hit back for a while and he did so by outsmarting Hamilton and Russell again. The Mexican’s third place was no longer in danger after that, but the audience enjoyed it.
Tsunoda
There were duels everywhere on the track and the fanatical Brazilian fans started cheering with every overtake. Daniel Ricciardo heard cheers every time he thought he had overtaken Carlos Sainz. Ricciardo’s AlphaTauri teammate Yuki Tsunoda caused even more clapping in the closing stages when he passed Lewis Hamilton. The Briton had a very difficult time in the final phase. Before the surprising Tsunoda had overtaken him, Charles Leclerc had also passed.
