KAA Gent won 1-3 against Patro Eisden in the Croky Cup on Wednesday evening. A surprised Ghent could only make the difference in the last fifteen minutes.

On Wednesday evening, KAA Gent and Patro Eisden Maasmechelen competed against each other in the sixteenth final of the Croky Cup. Hein Vanhaezebrouck chose a strong eleven. Stijn Steijnen changed once in his starting eleven.

A major difference in quality was not immediately noticeable. KAA Gent tried to take control of the match, but Patro Eisden was not easy to do. The spaces were kept small and very little was given away.

However, the home team had to collapse under the pressure after half an hour. Tarik Tissoudali suddenly kicked the 0-1 hard into the net. Stijn Stijnen’s team was able to chase.

Gift Orban came face to face with goalkeeper Jordi Belin moments later, but could not finish well enough on goal and the ball was pushed into a corner. The same thing happened to Orban just before half time, as he dropped the 0-2 twice.

Immediately after the break, Moussa caused the Patro Stadium to explode. He heads a cross from Stef Peeters into the net. We got a match again. Moments later, referee Ken Vermeiren whistled a back pass in favor of the home team. The ball was just cleared off the line.

Stijn Stijnen must have given quite a speech. His troops went all out in the second half. Yet KAA Gent took the lead again after 77 minutes. Hong was able to tap the ball in after a short pass from Tissoudali.

About three minutes later, Sven Kums scored the 1-3 with a great long shot. After this goal, two Patro players were given yellow cards for protesting, and coach Stijnen couldn’t help but laugh at it.

The match also ended 1-3 for KAA Gent. It is the Buffaloes that qualified for the eighth finals of the Croky Cup.
