Weatherman Frank Deboosere announces retirement

Within a year, weatherman Frank Deboosere (64) disappears from the tube, because Flanders’ most famous weatherman is retiring. He announced this on Saturday in the Radio 2 program ‘Weekwatchers’ and is confirmed by the VRT.

“I’m 64. This is the farewell tour,” Frank Deboosere told Ruben Van Gucht in the Radio 2 program Week watchers. “Frank is permanently employed by us and will indeed turn 65 next year, at which point his pension will start,” it says at the VRT. This means that he stops at both Radio 2 and all VRT networks. Deboosere will therefore no longer present the television weather forecast.

A final retirement date has not yet been set. Just like the succession, we also have to look at that,” it still sounds. According to VRT, there is no question of a freelance opportunity for Deboosere to keep him employed. The weatherman is currently also working on a sequel to his VRT podcast Planet Frank.

The fact that Deboosere will soon have to retire, once he is 65, is analogous to the past farewell moments of news anchor Martine Tanghe, political reporter Linda De Win, and sports reporter Michel Wuyts. They too had to leave the VRT once they reached retirement age.
