All-rounder Tadej Pogacar outclassed everyone on Friday in the Giro time trial of over 40 kilometers, including specialist Filippo Ganna.

Tadej Pogacar (UAE Emirates) won the seventh stage in the Tour of Italy on Friday. In the 40.6 kilometer time trial between Foligno and Perugia, the pink jersey was 17 seconds faster than the Italian Filippo Ganna (INEOS Grenadiers), and 49 seconds faster than his American teammate Magnus Sheffield. The Slovenian thus strengthens his leading position in the rankings.

Ganna started early and overtook a lot of riders. The Italian champion against the clock seemed to have won the game for a long time, but on the 6.5 kilometer final climb of the fourth category, Pogacar still dethroned Ganna. At the foot of the climb, Pogacar still had three quarters of a minute to make up.

Cian Uijtdebroeks, twentieth, almost three minutes behind Pogacar, loses his white jersey.

Another mountain stage in the 107th Giro d’Italia is on the program on Saturday. After 152 kilometers from Spoleto, the riders finish on the Prati di Tivo, a first category col.
