Once again no long-awaited victory for Vincent Kompany. Burnley’s coach watched from the sidelines as his team took the lead against Wolverhampton, but were unable to maintain that bonus. The gap with a safe place in the Premier League becomes even greater after a match in which a stand also played a supporting role.

A brief delay at the start of the match between Burnley and Wolverhampton.

A metal bar dangled precariously from the roof of the Jimmy McIlroy stand. So it had to be evacuated first to guarantee the safety of the home supporters.

While everyone still kept half an eye on the relocation, Bruun Larsen conjured up a clever half volley. Trainer Vincent Kompany was relieved with the opening goal, but also wary.

Because even before the coffee, Burnley scored the equalizer after a lightly whistled free kick. When the 2-1 was whistled back by the VAR, frustrations bubbled up in Turf Moor.

Supporters expressed their displeasure with the referee, Kompany – who was sent off against Chelsea last weekend – tried to remain calm.

Yet he watched the division of points with dismay. With the victory over Nottingham Forest, Burnley already has to make up 6 points if it wants to dream of retaining it.
