Around 2:15 p.m., a light truck crashed into a truck that was queuing in a traffic jam. The traffic jam was caused by some actions by farmers at the French border. The driver of the light truck was trapped in his cab and had to be freed. He was taken to hospital with serious injuries. The E17 is partially closed at that location. A little further on in Rekkem, all traffic is diverted from the E17 due to the troubles in France.

Also in Zeebrugge an accident occurred due to traffic jam. There, a van driver crashed into a traffic jam on the expressway caused by the farmers’ protest around Zeebrugge. This is reported by the road police.

A man died on the E40 towards Brussels on Thursday afternoon around 4:30 p.m. The driver of the van crashed into a truck at the tail end of a traffic jam between Ternat and Groot-Bijgaarden. “Unfortunately, the driver died,” says Jana Terdegem of the federal police. “The traffic jam was probably a result of the protest action by farmers at the RO in Zellik.”
