The front door of a detached house was blown up on Wednesday night around 2:30 am on Kerkhoflei in Sint-Antonius (Zoersel). Camera images show a person walking through the street and checking the house numbers with his flashlight. Shortly afterwards a flash of light is seen, followed by a loud bang. The suspected attacker then quickly walks out of the street with his flashlight on.
The emergency services were present en masse and set up a perimeter. The front door was badly damaged, wooden planks lay in pieces on the floor. No one was injured. The Dovo mine clearance service and the forensic laboratory arrived on site for trace evidence.
An hour and a half earlier, an explosive device also exploded at a front door in Mortsel. The Antwerp public prosecutor’s office has started an investigation. Whether the two facts can be linked is being investigated, as is a link with the drug environment.
