Distribution centers of retail group Colruyt were the target of industrial action on Friday morning. According to the socialist union, employees at the distribution center in Gellingen, Henegouwen, stopped work, but the management contradicts this.
Colruyt does say that trade union militants installed filter blockages near the distribution centers in Gellingen, Woelingen and Halle. In Halle the blockade would soon disappear.
The action may disrupt local traffic, but Colruyt expects that the planned volumes can be delivered. “The availability for our customers remains guaranteed.”
With the actions, the unions are putting pressure on negotiations on a purchasing power premium in the sector. There will be further consultations on a sector agreement on Friday afternoon.
According to the socialist association, the negotiations are not making progress. “The employees of the food trade want a correct sector agreement and rightly demand a purchasing power premium based on their efforts,” it said. The union is threatening more action if new consultations fail to produce results.
