Second half kicked off
We start the second half with the same 22 players. Can Club respond?
End of first half
Union is the better team in all areas and deservedly leads 1-0. Amoura shook the net with a fantastic bicycle kick. Club Brugge will have to look elsewhere if they don’t want to return to West Flanders empty-handed.
Meijer lies down after a push from Vanhoutte, but according to Vergoote there is nothing wrong. The VAR also does not intervene.
What can Club still do in the first period?
Can blue-black still make a fist before halftime? Moris is virtually unemployed. The Union goalie only had to take action on a shot from Nielsen.
Yellow card for Mohamed Amoura
Goal scorer Amoura is fined. He goes too hard on Skov Olsen.
Again Zinckernagel lets the ball jump off his foot. The Dane is not in the match at all. Union is lord and master.
Great rescue Mignolet!
Soon it was 2-0. Amoura – again – escapes and takes a good swing, but Mignolet falls flat. He pushes the leather against Spileers, but the young defender is able to escape just in time.
Blue-black somewhat tarnished
Confidence is dripping at Union. Club Brugge is clearly shaken and runs after the leather.
1-0 GOAL by Mohamed Amoura!
What a fantastic goal! Eckert finds Puertas at the far post and he heads the ball to Amoura. The Algerian hits a fantastic bicycle kick and puts Union ahead. A wonderful goal from the lightning-fast striker.
Yellow card for Denis Odoi
The first yellow card of the match goes to Odoi. He stops Amoura incorrectly. A correct decision by referee Vergoote.
Finally some excitement. Zinckernagel puts the ball ready for Nielsen, but the Danish midfielder cannot put enough power behind his attempt. Moris can easily catch.
Both teams are just a little too sloppy with the ball to put the goalkeepers to work. We still have to wait for concrete target danger.
The home team also makes an appearance. Lapoussin can take a swing, but Nielsen is in the path of the shot. Mignolet breathes a sigh of relief.
High pressure Union
Union is putting a lot of pressure and the people of Bruges are having a hard time with that. However, this did not yet result in any concrete target danger.
Dangerous cross Skov Olsen
After an excellent one-time strike from Nielsen, Skov Olsen is able to whip the ball across goal, but Mac Allister is well among them.
First half kicked off
The ball rolls into the Joseph Marien Stadium. Provided a win, Union Club can put Brugge on 12 points.
Bart Nieuwkoop will be honored before the match. The right wingback scored for Feyenoord yesterday and made a huge impression at Union two years in a row. The Dutchman also kicks off.
Ronny Deila: “We are ready”
Club Brugge gained confidence in the cup. Blauw-zwart defeated Beerschot 0-6. “It will be a big test tonight, but my players are ready for it,” said Club Brugge coach Ronny Deila. “I expect a tough battle. There will be a fight for every ball.”
Union has digested trauma against bogeyman Club: “Nobody puts us on the ‘title list’, but that’s okay”
Union will soon want to surpass itself after the ‘trauma’ at the end of last season. A hoped-for title slipped away in the final minutes, again against Club Brugge. Can Union now beat its biggest bogeyman at home for the first time since the comeback in 1A?
