British former Prime Minister Boris Johnson believed that corona was “nature’s way of dealing with old people”. The accusation comes from diary entries by former chief scientific adviser Patrick Vallance, who advised the government during the corona pandemic.

The notes were discussed during the hearings of the parliamentary committee that is currently examining the British government’s corona policy. For example, Vallance wrote in August that Johnson was “obsessed” with the idea that older people had to “accept their fate” so that young people can restart their lives and the economy can continue.

The statements were said to have been made in a WhatsApp group. According to Vallance, Johnson wrote that he and his party think the situation with corona is sad and that Covid is simply nature’s way of dealing with old people. “And I’m not entirely sure I disagree with them,” Johnson reportedly wrote.

In one of the notes, the chief scientific advisor calls the messages he was able to read “a pretty crazy series of exchanges”. Johnson did not respond to Vallance’s notes. A spokesperson said that the former prime minister is fully cooperating with the investigation into corona policy.
