Singer Eloi Youssef said goodbye to his band Kensington in tears on Sunday evening in a sold out Ziggo Dome. The rock band played six shows in the Amsterdam concert hall, the last of which was on Sunday. The singer spoke of the perfect goodbye.

“This is it. I don’t want this,” says Youssef before deploying his very last song as part of the band. “To all fans: this was perfect”, he addresses the audience about the course of the concert series.

“Welcome to the most special show of our entire career”, Youssef opened the concert earlier in the evening. “It will be an evening with a smile and a tear.” And those tears certainly came. “I really must try not to cry too hard, because I don’t sing for one fuck when I’m crying,” he jokes towards the end of the show.

Youssef takes the time to thank everyone behind the scenes and the fans and enthusiasts of the band. “And most importantly, I want to thank my brothers next to me.”

Guitarist Casper Starreveld still addresses Youssef towards the end of the show: “I thought it was an honor to be in the band with you.” After two encores, Youssef returns to the stage once more to receive a loud applause with emotion.

The singer announced earlier this year that he was leaving the band due to a “difference in vision of the future” with the other members. “It’s creatively around,” he told talk show Humberto. The rest of the band has announced that they will continue with Kensington, while Youssef says he will continue to write and sing because this is what he likes. It is not yet known in what form he will do that.
