Rapper Morad has come under heavy fire after publishing a video on TikTok expressing his support for King Mohammed VI over the Sahara issue.

In the video, which went viral, the Moroccan-born rapper shouts: “Long live the King. The Sahara is Moroccan”. In doing so, he expressed his support for King Mohammed VI on this sensitive issue.

Rapper Morad’s stance on the pre-eminently political issue has provoked an avalanche of reactions on social media in Spain. Some say they no longer recognize the artist, who fights against social and institutional racism.

The rapper from Hospitalet de Llobregat released the video after a concert in which he raised a flag of the Saharan Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) that was thrown at him by a spectator. Referring to the incident, Morad explained that he believed it was a Palestinian flag and that he has always supported Morocco when it comes to the Sahara.
