We all know that Daniel Craig’s time as James Bond is over. The actor played 007 one last time in the highly acclaimed No Time to Die, which means that a new actor has to be found. Idris Elba was mentioned for a long time, but it looks like we can put a line through his name.
Elba, also known from the series Luther and his role as Heimdall in the MCU, has been cited as Craig’s possible successor for years. Many fans see him as the perfect Bond, but Elba doesn’t feel like it anymore.
For example, 50-year-old Elba, who is only four years younger than Craig, said some time ago that he won’t be. This is now being responded to by none other than Barbara Brocolli, the well-known Bond producer.
She says the following: “We all love Idris very much. The only problem is that it will be some time before we come up with a new Bond film. When the time comes, we want to find a Bond willing to commit for at least 10 to 12 years“.
Broccoli continues: “This is tricky. Perhaps Idris also asks himself: “Do I really feel like this at all?” Not everyone wants this. It was already difficult for Daniel to do this for so long“.
It has been rumored for some time that Broccoli and co. want to go for a much younger actor, but well-known names such as Tom Hardy, Henry Cavill, Richard Madden, James Norton and Tom Hiddleston are also mentioned more often. So far, though, it remains guesswork who will land the part, but so we can definitively forget that Elba will be playing Bond.
