The Nightmare Before Christmas is of course an absolute ‘must watch’ movie for Christmas. The animated film was not only well received when it came out, it has also become a cult film. Yet it never came from a sequel, or is that about to change?
Many people think that the animation topper was directed by Tim Burton, but nothing could be further from the truth. The film was made by Henry Selick, although Burton acted as producer and helped with the story. Selick previously announced that he was not interested in a sequel, but is now coming back to this somewhat.
So now Selick says: “I don’t need a sequel, but why not a short film? For example, about the ghost dog Zero? I think it would be interesting to go back to that world, but this time to see it from someone else’s point of view“.
“I see there are. In other words, I think it’s a great idea and it’s definitely something I’d like to do. I’m sure Tim is interested too. It would even be stupid not to make it into a series of short films, because not only do I think it would be a success, it’s also a lot of fun to do“.
Over the past few years, Disney has been making more and more short films. The House of the Mouse is also clearly investing more in this. These short films will then be available on Disney+. For now, there are no definite plans to do something similar with The Nightmare Before Christmasbut it can certainly happen!
