Netflix gives Stephen King fans their first look at Mr. Harrigan’s Phone, a chilling and moving tale of a friendship beyond the grave. The first photos of the film can be viewed below.
mr. Harrigan’s Phone is part of the deal that super-producer Ryan Murphy (American Horror Story) closed with Netflix some time ago. It is also the first story in King’s short story collection If It Bleeds that is being filmed.
The story of the film is about Craig (Jaeden Martell from IT), a teenager who unexpectedly befriends the wealthy hermit Mr. Harrigan (Donald Sutherland). When mr. Harrigan dies, the bond between the two unlikely friends takes a supernatural turn when Craig discovers that he can communicate with the deceased man via his old iPhone.
The film is directed by John Lee Hancock. King recently saw a near-finished cut of the film and named it “nothing less than brilliant”. The film now appears to be almost finished and will be released on Netflix this fall.
In the pictures of mr. Harrigan’s Phone we see not only protagonists Martell and Sutherland, but also co-stars such as Kirby Howell-Baptiste.
