The Spy Kids reboot is complete. It was previously reported that Robert Rodriguez had been recruited to direct a new Spy Kids movie for Netflix, having directed all four previous films. This time he asked his son to co-write the screenplay.
On Twitter, Rodriguez announced that filming was completed by recreating a photo taken on the set of 2002’s Spy Kids 2: The Island of Lost Dreams.
As previously reported, the new Spy Kids will follow a new cast of characters led by Gina Rodriguez, Zachary Levi, Everly Carganilla, and Connor Esterston.
The Spy Kids franchise kicked off with the original installment that came out in 2001. Writer-director Robert Rodriguez would return for the next three sequels, including Spy Kids 2: The Island of Lost Dreams, Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over, and Spy Kids: All the Time in the World, and now the 5th installment of the franchise.
