Images of the canceled fan film Spider-Man: Lotus have appeared on the internet. In it, we see the title hero swinging through the streets of New York City. The visual effects look very impressive considering the low budget.
Recently, this project was pulled after DMs from the director and lead actor appeared on the internet making some vile, racist statements. Spider Man: Lotus will therefore no longer be released.
The VFX artists involved thought it a shame never to show their work to the outside world. After all, they spent many hours on the fan project with a small group. And it must be said: the result is astonishing.
The visual effects look incredibly sleek and realistic for a movie on such a low budget (Spider Man: Lotus would have had a budget of about $25,000).
The reactions to these images have been very positive. Some fans are calling on Marvel to offer the involved VFX artists, who are themselves not being accused of anything, a job. That would be a nice development from an otherwise quite sad story.
