Lots of top films this weekend. Not on the streaming services, but on old-fashioned linear television. Check out John Wick 3, Daniel Craig’s big Netflix hit and more free movies on TV.
‘A new series from the makers of Band of Brothers, you say? Sounds cool! Is that on Netflix?’
“No, on Apple TV.”
‘Oh okay. But if I subscribe, I can also see the new True Detective. However?’
‘No, it’s only on HBO+.’
Films on TV on the weekend of February 3 and 4
Every series you want to watch these days can only be seen on a streaming service that you don’t have. There is nothing to see on the streaming services that you do have. Progress is regression. Manners therefore gives tips at the start of the weekend for films or series that are on outdated, hopelessly outdated, but wonderfully simple TV.
Mission Impossible – Fallout
Saturday, 8:00 PM – 11:00 PM
For almost 2.5 hours, Tom Cruise runs, jumps, flies and falls through your screen in this 2018 film. To do this, he travels the entire globe in Mission Impossible – Fallout. He goes from London to New Zealand and from Norway to the United Arab Emirates. Not a stupid move, because on IMDB it scores a very respectable 7.7. This makes Fallout one of the best-rated films in the Mission Impossible series. You can see him on Veronica on Saturday evenings.
Saturday, 21:56 – 0:37
One of the few Netflix flagships that turned out not to be a dredger will be on TV for the first time this Saturday. Knives Out is a 2019 murder mystery that is less about the murder and more about solving the mystery. Cluedo, but as a film. Daniel Craig plays a kind of American Hector Poirot who has to find out who murdered the wealthy paterfamilias in a colorful family. Family murder has never been so fun. So watch. Right after Mission Impossible on Veronica.
John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum
We no longer know why Keanu Reeves as John Wick is killing countless guests for the third time. Does it matter? No. What matters is that Keanu Reeves knows more martial arts than Frans Timmermans speaks languages. He practices them all to kill people as creatively as possible. John Wick is mass murder, but it is also art. Part three is from 2019 and until now could only be seen on Amazon Prime, but of course you don’t have a subscription to that. No problem, because this Sunday evening John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum is the icing on the cake of the films on TV.
