Guillermo del Toro is one of the best directors around. The Mexican filmmaker has already made many gems, but can also enjoy a good film himself. He has now found another one on Netflix.
It is about this The Killer, that latest film from David Fincher. The latter has already achieved success with, among other things, Seven, Fight Club and Zodiac, just to name a few. His film on the streaming service is also now being strongly received.
In The Killer the leading role is played by Michael Fassbender, who takes on the role of a hitman. After a fateful near miss, he takes on his employers and himself in an international manhunt that he claims is not personal.
The film scores a very decent 7.0 on IMDb and even an 86% on Rotten Tomatoes. According to The Shape of Waterdirector, this is more than deserved. The Oscar-winning Del Toro has spoken out about it on social media.
The director writes on his Twitter page: “The film ‘The Killer’ is a beautiful Bronson film, as if written by Sartre and filmed by Melville with the speed of a Siegel“.
“It’s the lightest movie I’ve seen in a long time. It’s great when you can watch a movie and a movie at the same time“. Watch his full response above.
