Netflix has now released a large number of its own film productions. Below you can read about one of the best comedies on the streaming service: Win it All.

We recently wrote about underrated Netflix films like Ride or Die, Nobody Knows I’m Here and much more. Now for the first time we pay attention to a Netflix Original in the comedy genre: Win it All by Joe Swanberg.

Story
In Win it All plays Jake Johnson (Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse) the gambler Eddie Garrett, who agrees to look after a duffel bag for an ‘acquaintance’ who is going to jail for six months.

When he discovers cash in the bag, he cannot resist the temptation and ends up in serious debt. When his acquaintance’s prison sentence is unexpectedly shortened, Eddie suddenly has very little time to win back all the money.

Reception
Director Joe Swanberg’s film premiered at the South by Southwest Festival (SXSW) in 2017. The first reactions from people who saw it here were already very strong. When the film was released on Netflix on April 7, 2017, reactions naturally poured in.

The film has a strong 85% rating among critics on Rotten Tomatoes. The consensus is: “In Win It All, writer-director Joe Swanberg works in a relatively mainstream fashion – and strikes another collaborative discovery with leading man Jake Johnson.”

Swanberg & Johnson
Win it All is not the first film Swanberg and Johnson have made together. They previously made the underrated comedies Drinking Buddies and Digging for Fire.

Johnson is mainly known for his roles in comedies, but nowadays he also provides the voice for Peter B. Parker in the beloved Spider Verse-movies. Swanberg has next Win it All also the series Easy made for Netflix.
