After the extremely positive first online reactions, we can now also determine whether the full reviews are so positive for the latest Hunger Gamesfilm that will hit the big screen later this month.
Of course, we will again look at the reception on Rotten Tomatoes. The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by director Francis Lawrence ranks excellently on the Tomatoemeter after 37 reviews. 65 percentwith an average rating of 6.5/10.
Good, but not quite
“Davis, Dinklage, Zegler and the Games are exciting, but Snow doesn’t quite have the substance needed to fulfill the prequel’s ambitions,” writes Kevin Harley of TotalFilm.
“The film effectively deals with the brutality and futility of the Hunger Games and delves into the world before the events of the original series, making it the most compelling film in the series yet,” finds Collider’s Ross Bonaime.
True to the book
“The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes is not only faithful to the book, but also features one of the best casts of the year. If you have any affection for this franchise, you won’t want to miss the latest installment on the big screen,” said Comic Book’s Jamie Jirak.
You’ll see from November 16 The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes with roles by Tom Blyth (among others)Billy the Kid) and Rachel Zegler (SnowWhite) in Dutch cinemas.
