One of the larger Netflix Originals that the streamer is developing is called Damsel. It is directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (28 Weeks Later) and he was able to work with many notable names.
The leading role is for Stranger Things and Enola Holmes-actress Millie Bobby Brown. Other roles come from Robin Wright, Angela Basset, Ray Winstone, Nick Robinson, Brooke Carter and Shohreh Aghdashloo.
Fire breathing dragon
Brown plays the character Princess Elodie, a damsel who agrees to marry a handsome prince. But she discovers it’s all a trap. She is thrown into a cave with a fire-breathing dragon and must rely on her wits and strength to survive.
Damsel was made for a production budget of 60 to 70 million dollars and filming ran from February 2022 to July 2022, but we are still waiting for its release.
The film was originally scheduled for release on October 13 this year, but the strikes in Hollywood delayed the film. Now Netflix reports on the first poster that the film will be released sometime in 2024. Netflix promises: “This is NOT a fairy tale”.
In the poster above we see Brown’s character in her cave with the shadow of the fire-breathing dragon on the rocks. The trailer will be released soon, next Saturday.
