Attention anime fans: Perfect Blue from 1997 by director Satoshi Kon is getting a (small) re-release in Dutch cinemas this week.
This iconic psychological thriller is often hailed as one of the most important animated films of all time.
Synopsis
After shining as a rising pop star, Mima has decided to stop singing and aspires to a career as an actress and model. Her fan base isn’t ready to say goodbye to her yet. With the encouragement of her managers, Mima steps into the spotlight of a beloved TV show, but her new journey takes a dark turn when one by one her handlers and co-workers are confronted with a grim fate.
As her attacker slowly creeps closer, both in the physical world and online, the dangerous presence he represents proves to be even more terrifying than Mima could ever have imagined.
