On September 1, the film Nyad premiered at the Telluride Film Festival and then at the Toronto International Film Festival. And that’s not surprising, since this biopic is one that you must see. The film now ranks ninth in the Netflix Top 10.
Nyad comes from director Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi (Free Solo) and Netflix describes its Original with words like “exuberant” and “inspirational”. The title role is for Annette Bening and there are also roles for Jodie Foster and Rhys Ifans.
Very strong reception
On Rotten Tomatoes, the Tomatometer stands at an excellent 85 percent after 113 reviews and the IMDb currently scores a decent 7.1/10 after more than a thousand votes. FilmTotaal critic Terence Shea arrived 3.5 stars and concluded, among other things:
“As a film that depicts an experience, Nyad is fantastic because the experience becomes reality. As a film with a deeper story, it gets a pass, but no more than that.”
