James Bond is one of the longest-running film franchises in history. It all started in 1962 with Dr. No with the legendary Sean Connery and we are now 24 films further. Pierce Brosnan was the fifth actor to play the role and was last seen in Die Another Day.

With such a large number of films and six different actors portraying the iconic spy, there are naturally many special stories about things that went on behind the scenes.

Salary
Pierce Brosnan took over the role of James Bond from Timothy Dalton in 1995 with the classic GoldenEye. This film had a huge impact and is considered one of the best films in the entire Bond series. It was also a huge financial success, raising more than $350 million.

The Bond films became more and more lucrative over the years, which meant that the salaries of the leading actors also increased. Brosnan had a salary of a whopping $16.5 million for his last Bond film, but that wasn’t enough.

Aston Martin
Brosnan also requested to keep the beautiful, custom-made Aston Martin Vanquish that was used by Bond in the film. This request was denied, but Brosnan did not stop there. As part of the film’s marketing campaign, Brosnan would pose with the vehicle.

The day before the campaign was to begin, Brosnan declared that he would not go anywhere near the Vanquish unless guaranteed in writing that he would take the vehicle home once his duties promoting the film were completed.

Destroyed
Brosnan eventually got his way and in addition to his hefty salary, he also took home an exclusive Aston Martin Vanquish.

Brosnan enjoyed the car for a long time, but in 2015 the Vanquish was destroyed due to a serious fire in Brosnan’s house. Only the license plate with Brosnan’s name remained.
