After roles in, among others Coach Carter and War of the Worlds the world was really introduced to actor Channing Tatum in Step Up, including a washboard and clever dance moves. The film is now conquering the Netflix Top 10.
Step Up was directed by Anne Fletcher (The Proposal, Hocus Pocus 2) and Netflix describes the romantic drama film with words like “inspirational” and “moving”. In addition to Channing, you will see actors such as Jenna Dewan, Mario, Drew Sidora, Damaine Radcliff and Rachel Griffiths.
Very mixed reception
Critics were not enthusiastic about the film, as evidenced by its Tomatometer score of 21 percent based on 108 reviews. However, the audience loves it Step Up. The audience score on Rotten Tomatoes is 83 percent.
FilmTotaal critic Kaj van Zoelen himself was tough and caring a star for the effort: “A clichéd teen dance movie with a ridiculous plot, bad dialogue and bad acting.”
