How the Marvel Cinematic Universe Completely Wasted This Spider-Man Enemy

The collaboration between Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures resulted in Spider-Man: Homecoming in 2017. This reboot with Tom Holland in the role of Peter Parker/Spider-Man was a huge success and eventually led to the monster hit Spider-Man: No Way Home. The MCU has also missed some opportunities regarding certain characters.

Tom Holland’s Spider-Man has now taken on quite a few classic Spider-Man villains, but in Homecoming a confrontation was hinted at that never happened.

Enemies
Spider-Man has perhaps the most extensive and beloved roster of villains in the Marvel Universe. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Spider-Man has already taken on Adrian Toomes/Vulture (Michael Keaton), Quentin Beck/Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal) and of course all the enemies from previous Spider-Man films in No Way Home.

Even Tom Hardy’s Venom had a brief presence in the MCU, but after the events of No Way Home he was sent back to his own universe before an inevitable confrontation with Spider-Man.

Scorpion
A Spider-Man enemy that is still present in the MCU is Mac Gargan/Scorpion (Michael Mando). This character made his debut in Spider Man: Homecoming as a criminal who was interested in Adrian Toomes’ technology.

This character is better known in the comic books as Scorpion, one of Spider-Man’s great enemies. In the above scene after the credits of Homecoming it is very clearly hinted that Gargan would become a future opponent of Peter Parker and would probably wear his signature Scorpion costume.

Forget
This scene ultimately led to nothing. Michael Mando never returned to a Marvel movie as Gargan after this, which is a shame. There’s always a chance that this cliffhanger will be continued in the fourth Spider-Man movie starring Tom Holland.

Nothing is known yet about the story of this film, but since Sony Pictures is busy with films of other Spider-Man enemies such as Kraven and Venom, it may well be that a character is chosen for which there are currently no plans. have been and have already been introduced in the MCU.
