On Friday afternoon, the Madame Mustache nightclub in Brussels suddenly caught fire. A few hours later, the Brussels fire brigade confirmed that the fire in the building is now fully under control. There were no injuries. The Brussels fire brigade ended its intervention on the Brandhoutkaai shortly after 5 p.m.
The fire brigade was soon on the spot in Brussels after a fire broke out around 1 pm. According to them, there was a fire at a three-storey building on Brandhoutkaai. The Madame Mustache disco was located on the ground floor. “The back of the building was on fire,” said Walter Derieuw, spokesman for the Brussels fire brigade bruzz. ‘The secret annex has also collapsed in the meantime.’ That space also belonged to the disco and was probably used as a storage place.
The site of the fire was difficult to reach and there was a danger of collapse, so the fire brigade had to extinguish the fire along Brandhoutkaai and Saturday Square. “The fire is now fully under control,” the fire department said. The cause is currently unknown.
“Everyone was evacuated before the emergency services arrived,” Derieuw said. “Fortunately there were no injuries.” The clean-up work could take some time, according to the fire department.
