The matches against Wales (tonight) and in the Netherlands (Sunday) can provide the Red Devils with a ticket for the final round of the Nations League in their own country. The Devils are still struggling for group win with the Netherlands, because only the group winner can go to the Final Four.

If the Devils want to be there, just like during the previous edition of the Nations League, they must hope that Poland will take points from the Netherlands. Belgium is currently three points behind the Orange, but can still become group winner if the Netherlands does not progress further tonight. If Belgium does at least as well as the Netherlands tonight, Sunday’s match will be decisive. If the gap is still three points after tonight, Belgium must win against Orange by at least three goals on Sunday. No sinecure. The best scenario is therefore that the Netherlands does not win in Poland and Belgium wins against Wales. Then a narrow win against the Orange on Sunday is enough for a group win.

If Virgil van Dijk, Steven Berghuis, Steven Bergwijn, Frenkie de Jong and/or Teun Koopmeiners take a yellow card against Poland, they will be suspended for the game against the Belgians.
