The Belgian U19 has started its qualifying campaign towards Euro 2023 well. The young Devils defeated Albania with clear 3-1 figures. Stroeykens (Anderlecht) was good for a goal and an assist.
A dominant party did not translate on the scoreboard in Hasselt. The young Red Devils were clearly a class too strong for Albania, but went to rest with a spectacle score.
Immediately after rest it worked. Anderlecht duo Stroeykens and Sadiki gave Belgium the deserved lead. The joy did not last long in the Belgian camp, because less than 4 minutes later it was already 1-1.
Stroeykens scored the second Belgian goal of the evening, on a pass from Bassette. The latter also served Vermant in the absolute final on his way to a simple victory.
Belgium is thus provisionally leading in group 7, which only has 3 teams after the exclusion of Russia. Next Tuesday the game against Spain will follow.
The first 2 teams advance to the second qualifying round (20 to 28 March), the final phase takes place from 3 to 16 July next year.
