The Belgian provider edpnet is increasing the speed of its Fiber XS subscription. The download speed goes from 110Mbit/s to 150Mbit/s. The upload speed increases from 10Mbit/s to 50Mbit/s. The price of the subscription remains the same.

The provider, which has more than 45,000 customers in Belgium, offers four different internet subscriptions: VDSL XS, VDSL XS, Fiber XS and Fiber XL. At the beginning of this year, edpnet increased the prices of these subscriptions by 1 euro per month. The Fiber XS subscription then increased to EUR 35.95. According to the provider, that price remains the same despite the increase in speed.

Users of other internet subscriptions are currently not offered a higher speed. The cheapest subscription, VDSL XS, remains at a download speed of 20Mbit/s and an upload speed of 20Mbit/s. The most expensive subscription, Fiber XL, maintains the download speed of 500Mbit/s and the upload speed of 100Mbit/s.

Last month, edpnet filed a complaint with the Belgian telecom authority BIPT. The company accuses telecom provider Proximus of unfair competition. According to edpnet, it is not profitable to compete with the internet subscriptions of Mobile Vikings, the subsidiary of Proximus.
