Around 7.30 pm a fight broke out at the tram stop at the intersection of Hortensiastraat and Francisco Ferrerlaan. As a man and a woman got off the tram, a young man rushed toward them.

At first the call was made alone, but then the boy became aggressive and dealt several blows. It is not yet clear why the fight started. The circumstances are being investigated,” said Matto Langeraert, spokesman for the Ghent police.

In the end, two more people became involved in the brawl. An eyewitness saw the young man incessantly kick the victim as the man was already on the ground. Bystanders informed the police. He arrived not long after. The man was taken to hospital with minor head injuries.
